Olympus [mju:] -2 (Stylus Epic) goes to the woods

As I mentioned earlier, I received an Olympus [mju:]-2 as a Christmas gift.

I though my new year getaway in the woods would be a good opportunity to test it.

I loaded it with Ilford HP5 and used it for my holiday snaps.

Having owned a [mju:]-1 for a while it was nice to compare it to its younger, slimmer brother.

The [mju:]-2 is small, really small, but in operation isn’t much different to the older model, plus the flash still goes off at inappropriate times.

The one big difference is the lens. The [mju:]-2 has a 35mm f2.8 Olympus lens which super sharp, even in the corners.

Anyway, enough talk, here’s the best images from the roll:

  2. Nice sequence and I like the posting of the contact sheet. The contact sheet is a lost art in the digital world. It is funny how these “old” cameras are resurfacing. I have just run a roll of Tri-X through my Mju 1 and posted some of the results. The Mju 1 3.5 lens has its limitations, but in good light it is fine.

    1. The [mju:]1 & 2 are both great little cameras for street photography or just to have in your bag or coat all the time. The lens is better on the [mju]2 but i will still use both. If you shoot fast films the soft corners shouldn’t be a problem with the 3.5. I’ll check out your post.
