This is my new camera.
After many hours of research I returned the D2Xs to Aperture photographic in London and exchanged it for this classic machine and 2 vintage lenses.
A 1979 Nikon F2A, Nippon Kogaku Nikkor-S 50mm 1.4 and a Nikkor-S 35mm 2.8.
I think I got a pretty good deal.
The F2 is a real classic, used by photojournalists throughout the 70′s and 80′s.
The body is showing the lovely brass around the edges, it has obviously seen some action, but the super robust construction is still solid and functioning smoothly. The photomic head still gives accurate light readings.
The lens was made in the late 60′s or early 70′s, has spotless glass and butter smooth focusing.
As soon as I got it I loaded it with Ilford Delta 400 and went for a stroll through Soho. It was getting late so I pushed the Delta to 1600.
I scanned the negs with my new Epson V500.
As you can see, the camera and lens work pretty well:
